Equipment

 

 

You will need some equipment for your expedition.

Below you’ll find a list of OUR equipment and a list of the equipment YOU should bring. If you don’t have your own, you could rent it in Mendoza.

 

Our equipment: 

- Four season camping tents

- Medical kits

- Permanent communication radios

- Cooking gear and fuel

Your equipment:

Feet

- 1 pair of comfortable trekking boots

- 2 pairs of thick socks (wool or polypropylene)

- 2 pairs of liner socks (synthetic)

- 1 pair of cotton socks (for approaches to base camp)

- 1 pair of leg gaiters

Legs

- 2 thermal underwear long pants(synthetic)

- 1 fleece pants (with lateral zippers recommended)

- 1 waterproof, breathable shell pants (Gore-tex with lateral zippers recommended)

- 1 comfortable trekking pants

- 1 shorts (optional)

Upper Body

- 2 thermal underwear long sleeve shirts (synthetic)

- 1 thin synthetic sweatshirt(polartec 100/200, or similar)

- 1 fleece jacket

- 1 warm jacket for -30°C / -22°F (Down feather recommended)

- 1 hooded waterproof jacket (Gore-Tex recommended)

- 2 cotton shirts

- 1 synthetic neck gaiter(Buff or similar)

Head

- 1 sun hat

- 1 warm hat

- 1 sunglasses (with UV filter and side shields)

- 1 googles

Hands

- 2 pairs of thin liner gloves (synthetic)

- 1 pair of warm gloves

- 1 pair of warm mittens (down or synthetic)

- 1 pair of gloves to put over mittens (Gore-Tex or similar)

Backpack and other bags

- Comfortable expedition backpack (70-liter minimum)

- Small backpack (for base camp approaches)

- 1 big and strong bag (to transport your gear by mule and keep your equipment at base camp, minimum 160-liter)

Sleeping Gear

- Sleeping bag for -30°C / -22°F (down orpolar guard)

- 1 sleeping pad (Thermarest or similar)

- 1insulating pad (recommended to protect Thermarest if you have one)

Mountain Gear

- 1 pair plastic double-boots

- Automatic crampons (12 point, non-rigid)

- Adjustable trekking poles

Others

- LED Headlamp w/extrabatteriesand extra bulb

- Lip balm with sunscreen and face sunscreen 35spf minimum

- 1 camping bowl, 1 mug, silverware

- 2 wide mouth water bottles (1 l Nalgene de 1 recommended. - 1 fabric bottle holder

- 1/2 l or 1 l stainless steel thermos (very useful at high altitude)

- 2 hand warmers (for summit day)

- 1 hydration bag or similar (CamelBak, very useful for base camp approaches. It does not work at high altitude because it freezes)

- Personal hygiene articles (towel, soap, wet towels

Optional

- Books, iPod, games, and other pastimes

- Camera, extra memory cards and batteries

- Ear plugs (useful on windy nights)

- An extra wide mouth water bottle for pee (1 l Nalgene recommended. Very useful at higher altitudes)

- Swimming suit (for hotel pool)
